Car insurance curious question?

Jude Colbenson: I've got a great camshaft for you which is a drop in, idles perfectly, gains an average of 2-3 MPG, and close to 40 rear wheel HP. It actually gains low rpm torque. With your big tires, you need to change the gear ratio so that your RPM is back to around 2000 at 70 MPH. Until you do that, mileage and performance are going to puke because the tall tires have effectively done the same as putting in a really tall gear ratio which drops the engine RPM way below it's power band. Put a set of factory Vortec heads on with a fel pro 1094 head gasket and then buy the GM performance parts TBI intake for Vortec Heads. Stock, keep a single 2 1/2 inch single exhaust. With the heads and cam, no more than a 3 inch single pipe. Use a single inlet/dual outlet muffler if you still want to have the dual exhaust look. You'll make considerably more torque and as a result horsepower with a single exhaust than you will a true dual. Torque gains there alone are in the 40 lb/ft ran! ge. Any gain in torque you get below 5252 RPM, you will also gain hp at the same RPM.My email is: camshaftshaun@gmail.com...Show more

Rosie Travino: Nope. A car is insured by the condition/value it was in the day you insure it. Some companies will allow up to $1500. additional coverage as a customer service, but it's at their discretion. If you start adding items to your vehicle it's best to get a rider attached to your policy to cover them, and yes you will pay more. Classic and antique coverages are often very specific as to when and where you can drive the vehicle.Too many times I'd have kids throw a fit when they boinked their "race car" and find out that the insurance company wasn't going to cover all the stuff they did to them. And they could have 20 grand in mods done, but since the car was an older low line car all they got out of the settlement was book value in a stock unmodified condition.A note on that, if you messed up on your coverage, and you total yo! ur car, most insurance companies will allow you to remove the ! custom items. As long as you reinstall the stock ones....Show more

Mitzie Clough: When you apply for car insurance, you are always asked if any modifications were made to the vehicle. If you claim that you had invested over 20,000$ into the car, then that 21 year old clunker is suddenly worth a lot more and consequently your premiums will also increase dramatically. Full coverage will only cover what you have indicated to the insurance company. Let's say that you decide to not claim all the upgrades and you happen to get into an accident. If the insurance companies find out that you have been dishonest about the upgrades, not only will they not cover the true value of the car, but you can also be charged with perjury....Show more

Gilberto Cratin: My dad has an old 1970 Monte Carlo in my grandmother's garage, and since I don't have a car, he said I can have it if I put money and effort into fixing i! t up. I've seen the car, what I know it needs is a new engine, as my dad took out the engine and put it in another car that was sold. It also has a rust spot on the back part of the right side, and needs a new coat of paint. So what should I know or look into about getting a new engine. Is it possible to put a different engine than what it had, or should I just get a new V8 engine? Also, what can I do about the spot of rust on the body? I've never looked into any of this, and it's all new to me, so sorry if I sound stupid about this. Thank you for any help you can give....Show more

Patrick Bitsui: I would take a piece of hose or pipe about 2FT long start the car place one end of pipe or hose to your ear use the other side and move it all around the engine till you here where the noise is coming from use caution stay away from moving objects.

Logan Bero: Start here http://fgmcc.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php 70-72 Monte Carlo only site. We can answer any quest! ions you have. All Monte's in 1970 came with a V8, either small block o! r big block, so putting in another one would be easiest. It's a huge engine compartment so any thing can fit in there. Rust work depends on how bad it is. Check out the site, we're always happy to meet another Monte guy.

On today i went to a car show in my area and when i was out their i seen alot of nice old school. As i was looking, i went to talk to a guy. he said invested 20,000 in his 89 chevy caprice. It had the Portable tvs, brand new engine and so on.. Then i was like man what if you wreck you vehicle, the insurance not going to pay for all that, besides you can get much for a 21 yr old car. He was like since he got full coverage and he happen to get into a accident and the car is total, he said the insurance com! pany will reimburse him half of the money back on what he spent on the car. Is this true?...Show more

Colby Millberg: yes

Randall Twehous: No it's not true. Unless it's specified in the policy he'd be lucky to get 10% of that back. I hope his policy clearly states what they're paying or else he's in for a very, VERY rude awakening.

Ruthe Real: Find a set of headers on classifieds, they go cheap, run them open for maximum fun, or get cutouts if you are going to drive on the street often. Vortec heads work great with some mild port work, or you could try to find victor jr heads or something to that effect. A dual plane high torque manifold and holly 650. You might want to get a forged 383 rotating assembly, good insurance. Download desktop dyno off a torrent and play with it.

Darrel Stele: hi, i just got a new truck that is in alright condition with a 350 tbi.well the truck is an automatic 4x4 1987 silverado 1500 k10 with a 4 inch lift 33 tires and an engine which the lower half(block) is a 350 while the upper part of the engine are the parts off the original 305.I am hoping to make this engine into a 350 beast. i dont have much automotive experience so i was wondering what type of heads, valve lifters, manif! old, carb, and other parts should i add to get some fun power.btw this t! ruck will be for 4x4 and some off roading. thank you....Show more

Wilfredo Muldoon: Put Aluminum heads on it.

Will Camus: Make sure your using the right octane recommended and its probably time for a tune-up.

Brian Freedland: they have a thing called classic or antique car insurance. you have to declare a value and take pictures of the vehicle and give other info to the company. i have this insurance on my 66 mustang and the declared value is 10,000. these people believe that you will take good care of your vehicle and will not drive it very often and that reduces the risk of an accident. [less exposure] it is dirt cheap, 100 bucks a year for full coverage. don't believe me, start Googling. remember, you have to meet their guide lines, abide by the policy, and sign on the dotted line....Show more
