Alaska, Orders, Transportation?

Irma Poiter: You need to get with "Transportation" ( You MUST go for an appointment to out-process). You can have your auto shipped or you can drive for a mileage rate of something like .20-30 cents a mile. You will end up drivng on your leave time, but they will adjust your leave on the back side. So, I take 30 days leave, starting from Bragg, it's a 5 day trip to Alaska...they take 5 days off for travel time. Good luck and thanks for serving.

Piedad Bassiti: I took a cruise to Alaska on Celebrity cruises (although, RCCL is just as great) and I did the inside passage itnierary. It was great! We originated and ended in Vancouver and we visited Juneau in which we hiked a bit on Mt. Roberts and took a cable car up for like $6 and then went white water rafting (ok, more like tame water rafting) and it was great! We did the rafting thru a ship tour which can be a bit pricey, but well worth it. We also visited Ketchican, Skagway, and we cruised thru the inside passage fo! r a whole day getting an amazing view of the Hubbard glacier. Honestly, if you're looking to party like a rock star, then an Alaska cruise isn't for you. But if you really wanna get outdoorsy and appreciate the beautiful sights, then a cruise is a convenient and comfortable way of doing it. If you particularly prefer to go when it's a bit colder, try in MAy where the average temp was in the mid to upper 40's. June, July, August it can get as high as mid to upper 60's. Good luck and happy vacationing!...Show more
