Home remodel ripoff!! How do I sue?

Janean Guz: your first mistake was hiring a guy who didn't' even has his own transportation. how good a worker could he be if he can't even get enough business to own a car?did you actually sign over teh title to teh guy? if yes, that was mistake #2

Jackelyn Archut: Let me get this straight: you signed away the title to a car BEFORE the guy finished the job?1) I hope you have a written agreement2) sure, you can sue him - you are the one with the 'contract'. Sure, you can get a judgment against him, maybe, but you can't get blood from a turnip.Is this guy licensed? if not, try reporting him to the state agency that licenses contractors. I found out the hard way that they are not even permitted to sign a contract in your home. It has to! be in their office (in Texas,)...Show more

Kip Ockenfels: You're confusing me. When did the car come into the picture? And everything depends on the contract, whether it's written or spoken. A verbal contract can only apply if it's indisputable that the parties agreed.So if you don't have a contract of any sort, you're screwed. If you do, does it specify what was supposed to be done (the scope of the work)? If it does, and he has not fulfilled the scope, then you have the right to screw....Show more
