Fritz Hawkey: Amongst other things, global warming increases the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere because more water evaporates at higher temperatures. This has the effect of increasing precipitation, in the forms of both rain and snow. Hence (and somewhat counterintuitively), you tend to get worse winters when the average annual temperature is higher.
